Martha Van Der Bly — Actress

Martha Van Der Bly is a versatile, intelligent and seductive actress. With her ability to capture a plethora of characters, she relentlessly demands the audience’s full attention as soon as she appears on screen. This Dutch native continues to aim for inspiring and powerful performances.

Appearing frequently on stage in demanding lead roles, Martha was Electra in Sophocles’ tragedy, German photographer Astrid Kirchherr in Ronan Wilmot’s The Man who Gave the Beatles Away in the New Theatre in Dublin, Annabella in John Ford’s Tis Pity She’s a Whore in Theater aan het Spui in The Hague, and Anna in Maxim Gorki’s The Lower Depths, in Amsterdam.

Martha’s film credits include award winning Irish contemporary drama 8.5. hrs directed by Brian Lally. Marc de Cloe’s Het Leven Uit Een Dag and Chris Harrington’s Collect ‘em All. Martha played in several shorts filmed in New York, London, Dublin and Amsterdam.

Travelling from one artistic medium to another, as much as from country to another, Martha’s busy schedule includes modelling and writing. Her first script for the short film Time Out won an award granted by the Amsterdam Art Council.
